Women’s Journeys

Empowering women through exploration, exchange, and shared learning.
We believe that when women travel together with intention, travel becomes something more than movement. It becomes a space for dialogue, leadership, and quiet transformation.

Women’s Journeys were created to connect women across borders through exploration, learning, and lived experience, with a long-term vision of making Central Asia one of the most women-friendly and women-empowering regions in the world.

She Walks the Mountains: Kyrgyzstan
She Walks the Mountains is a women-led trekking journey through the highlands of Kyrgyzstan, created for women who choose presence over pace and depth over distance. This experience follows ancient paths across alpine valleys, mountain passes, and summer jailoos. This is not about conquering peaks. It is about listening — to the rhythm of your breath, the strength of your body, and the vastness around you.

Women to Women: Central Asia
This journey goes beyond sightseeing. You are welcomed into women-led spaces, artisan homes, creative studios, and everyday lives — from nomadic traditions in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, to ancient Silk Road cities in Uzbekistan, to modern Central Asian culture in Kazakhstan.
Designed for conscious female travellers, founders, creatives, and explorers, these tours combine cultural immersion, comfort, safety, and meaningful connection.

Why Women & Tourism Matter
According to the UN World Tourism Organisation, women make up more than half of the global tourism workforce, and the gender pay gap in tourism is lower than in most other industries.

For UNWTO and UN Women, tourism is not simply an economic activity — it is a powerful platform for advancing gender equality, especially when women are placed at the centre of sustainable development strategies.
UNWTO and UN Women emphasise that placing women at the centre of sustainable tourism development is essential to achieving global gender equality goals by 2030.

Tourism, when designed responsibly, becomes more than movement — it becomes a driver of economic independence, a platform for cultural diplomacy, and a catalyst for environmental stewardship.

Across Central Asia, more women are stepping into roles once dominated by men as curator leads, naturalists, homestay hosts, artisans, and entrepreneurs, reshaping both perception and reality. We support this shift by creating fully women-led journeys that place women at the heart of every experience.
Women to Women Tours: Impact Beyond Travel
Our Women to Women journeys are intentionally designed to create measurable social impact, not symbolic empowerment.
  • Women’s Entrepreneurship Builds Resilient Communities
    Global research consistently shows that when women earn, communities thrive. Women entrepreneurs reinvest up to 90% of their income into their families and local communities. This directly improves education access, literacy rates, nutrition, and public health. Women-led economies are more crisis-resilient and future-oriented.

    By channeling tourism income directly to women, from yurt hosts and guides to artists and cultural leaders, we help create long-term, locally rooted sustainability, not short-term charity.
  • Women in Leadership Create Ethical Systems
    Studies across development economics and governance show that women leaders tend to prioritise collective well-being over individual gain, support fair wages and transparent business practices, and foster trust-based, ethical ecosystems.

    Our tours intentionally spotlight women as decision-makers and storytellers, shifting power dynamics from observation to participation.
Why Kyrgyz Women × Global Women Is Truly Unique
We do not show local women – we create space for them to meet as equals. Many kyrgyz women have never travelled abroad.
  • -1-
    For kyrgyz, meeting women travellers is:
    • A radical expansion of perspective;
    • A validation of their skills and lived wisdom;
    • A powerful realisation: “My experience matters globally”.
  • -2-
    For global travellers, kyrgyz women are:
    • Women of the steppes and high mountains;
    • Quiet leaders shaping families and communities;
    • Keepers of deep hospitality and living traditions.

This is what makes it truly unique

It is not about learning about one another, but learning with one another. It is a space where women recognise themselves in unfamiliar forms, where empowerment is not taught but experienced, where connection becomes the most valuable outcome of the journey.

Women arrive as travellers but leave as collaborators, allies, and witnesses to one another’s worlds. Women's Journeys is where travel becomes a bridge between worlds.
